Our Purpose:

Freemasonry has existed throughout the world for centuries and is the oldest Fraternal Order in the world.  It is a Brotherhood of like-minded men of good moral character and who desire to better themselves and their community.

Our History:

Freemasons have met formally in the Riverton/Tukwila area since 1909.  A petition to the Grand Lodge of Washington to charter Delta Lodge was submitted in June of 1908.  The name ‘Delta’ was thought to be appropriate by the brethren since the lodge location would be in the delta of the Duwamish River.  Formal Charter was granted June 8, 1909 as Delta Lodge number 172.  The number 172 refers to Delta Lodge as the 172nd lodge chartered in the state of Washington.

The first meetings were held in McCoy Hall, which burned down November 11, 1909.  McCoy Hall was located on the hillside just east of what is now Tukwila International Blvd. at South 130th St.

The lodge then took up residence where SeaTac Airport is today in the ‘hop house’ of member Emmett Robbins. A ‘hop house’ is a structure used for drying and curing hops.  In June of 1910 the lodge moved to Robbins Hall, near the old McCoy Hall, where they met until Decemeber of 1926.

The location for the current Delta Masonic Hall was chosen in 1923.  The land was purchased for $50.  $10,000 in stock certificates were then issued to fund the building of Delta Masonic Hall.  The members of the lodge were the principal purchasers of the bonds and the cornerstone was laid September 25, 1926.

The building, then completed, has stood for 100 years as celebrated on September 26, 2026.  On September 11, 1991 White Center Lodge officially joined with Delta Lodge, now becoming Delta-White Center Lodge number 172.  Masons continue to meet in these halls in celebration of the most excellent tenets of freemasonry; brotherly love, relief and truth.
